Let's Look: Pet Peeves

I usually don't participate in this  linkup but I couldn't resist when I saw that the topic was pet peeves! I've got sooo many! Here are the top 10 that came to mind (in no particular order):

  • Texting/Being on your phone when we're hanging out, particularly during a meal at a restaurant (agree with Jennifer!)
  • SLOW WALKERS. Especially when they're on the phone.

  • GROUP TEXTS. OMG. (agree with Shay!) It's like, the individuals may be silent for a month, then all of a sudden says one small thing, and a flurry of texts from everyone in the group start pouring in... I can't take it! (This is why many of my group texts are on mute!)
  • Voicemail. I am not going to listen to your 25 min voicemail. Just text me. (Apparently I have a LOT of phone-related pet peeves!)
  • Work-Related: Pre-Meetings (those meetings before the actual meeting...why???), email chains (I do not want to spend 20 min scrolling through a whole chain just to get to the point!), and having to explain simple things to people who should know and make 3x my salary (like my boss).

  • Probably a pretty common one but one that annoys the hell out of me nonetheless - loud and/or open mouth chewing, and talking while you have food in your mouth (especially, again, when your on the phone or a conference call).

  • Leaving the tp on the counter instead of putting it on the roll, but much worse...Not refilling the TP at all. SAVAGES!

  • THIS. Please don't make me do math just to figure out how old your kid is:

What are some of your pet peeves?
Do we have any in common?

Shit Blue Said

While doing yoga and Keebler was going around under her...
I was going for downward dog and instead got petulant cat.

Me: Did I tell you that I figured out why mosquito bites turn into welts on me?
Blue: No, why? I figured it was because you're tiny and they weren't to scale.

Blue: I'm wearing that black and gray cardigan I bought. I don't know if I like it.
It's a bit big, and the sleeves are awkward. They are 3/4 length but like, webbish under the arms. I look like a flying squirrel and a dolphin made a love child.

Blue: There's drilling going on somewhere here and it sounds like mating whales.
I hear it through my headphones.

In text...

Blue's Sister: I think I will zoodle some potatoes (or is that potoodles)?
Blue: Redefining the shame spiral.

Blue: A while ago HR made us go to "Sexual Harassment Training" I was like, what? Are you going to teach us how to do it?

Blue: On a side note, I got a bag of Cheez-its from the vending machine. After they went through that little vending-spiral of shame and fell 3 feet to the pick-up tray, they all got crushed. So I'm basically doing shots of Cheez-its in my cubicle.
One day, I'm going to use ground up cheese its as breadcrumbs.

Blue: I wish I had Oprah's closet. It's the size of my condo.
Me: No you don't. You don't even own that many clothes.
Blue: But all the colors.
Me: Your closet consists of gray, black and white. What are you even talking about?
Blue: I have some blue! And a red sweater...

Me: You like that little bag don't you?
Blue: I do. It's what we do as women bags inside of bags inside of bigger bags. It's like our whole lives revolve around nesting dolls.

One liner of the month...
I've created a new word: Pumidity- when humid weather causes people on mass transit to smell really, really bad.

Shit Blue Said

None

Blue: I'm having a very klutzy day.
Me: What happened?
Blue: I knocked over an entire bag of dry cat food. The kitchen was covered. It was a fucking mess and I wasn't caffeinated enough to handle it.

Watching Superbad...
Me: Is that baby Emma Stone?
Blue: Yeah, pebble.

Blue: [Our friend] Mark got a new car, he picks it up today. He got a Subaru.
So I told him he was such a lesbian.
He agreed and said he needed Birkenstocks and an Indigo Girls CD.

During a Senakot ^ commercial...
Me: Damn can't you just ease us into that shit?
Also Me: No, that's why you use Senakot.
Blue: Literally shit Dani said

Battle of the berries...
Blue: Ben and Jerry's stole my idea. They're making Fruity Pebbles, Lucky Charms and Cocoa Krispie ice cream.
Cocoa krispies and fruity pebbles are like the same
Me: No they're not. 1. one is chocolate and 2. Fruity pebbles are fruit shaped
Blue: No, fruity pebbles are like flakes.
Goes to google... see, they're flakes
Me: No, there's a banana there's an orange and that's a berry
Blue: No they're flat!
Me: You're a berry... a wild berry
Blue: You're a dingle-berry

Regarding baby sprinkles...
Me: Sprinkles are stupid
Blue: Yeah stop milking your friends
Me: Seriously I'm not a cow
Blue: But that's for an udder conversation

Blue: FedEx and UPS are actually going to merge.
Me: Really?
Blue: Yeah they're gonna called Fed Up.
Me: D'oh.
Blue: Funny how the word gullible isn't in the dictionary.

Stuck in traffic:
Blue: You're blocking my tacos. It's a tac-block
Later...
I got excited and got more tacos than I wanted. Give me one of everything! $17 of the shits is what I got.

Blue: Ideas and concepts mean different things to different people. For example, " clean eating" to me means simply using a plate that didn't come out of the sink or draining rack.

Friday Favorites- Only One in July

With all the bad shit going on in the world right now, I'm going back to an old standby, favorites from this week (which I haven't done in a month) to spread some happiness around. Also, I'm overjoyed to have a weekend free of plans! Well, sort of. Tonight I'm heading back to the Great Falls to show it off to Blue's other cousins and then making a pit stop at Libby's, my absolute favorite hot dog joint. And tomorrow I'll be laying out at Blue's sister's pool, grilling eating grilled food, and prepping some freezer meals. But first, sharing some faves with Amanda

Favorite Song: All In My Head (Flex)- Fifth Harmony ft. Fetty Wap

Favorite Idea: If I ever had a pool, I would totally make this. Can't beat the $2 price tag (for the noodles) either!

Favorite Moments
  • My friend had a baby boy! He was born on Tuesday and I can't wait to meet him!
  • Finally booked a couple's painting class at Pinot's Palette (which I have been nagging Blue to do with me for over a year)!
  • Checked "see an outdoor movie" off my summer bucket list! Seeing Pitch Perfect with such a fun crowd was awesome, and we had perfect weather for it!

Favorite Purchase: An impulsive daily deal. This 18 pc. Pyrex set from Amazon was only $24. It's now $46. I've never actually owned any Pyrex and I'm pretty excited about it! #adulting #imold

Friday Favorites

Today is my new boss's last day (my old boss resigned in February). She actually resigned last June, but then her new job fell through, so she stayed on here and was telecommuting from AZ for the past year, but we've just filled her position. I'm not exactly sad because we never really got along very well, but she's one of the few people who have been here almost as long as I have, and I don't like the revolving door this office has become. The new guy is starting on Monday. I'm not sure if I'll be reporting directly to him, or someone else, as there have been a lot of organizational changes up in here. Did I mention that my entire department is also being moved to a whole other building, off campus (I work at a college)? So August 1 there will be (literal) upheaval. The whole "not knowing" aspect coupled with the sheer amount of changes going on are making me incredibly anxious. I don't know who I report to, where we'll be moving TO, nor what exactly I'm even doing anymore. I think it's time to make my changes of my own.. I've already started working on my resume and sending it to friends for edits but soon after I'll be keeping my eyes and ears open for new opportunities. But before any of that, I'm kicking off the weekend with some faves from the week with Amanda.

Favorite Song: Corinne Bailey Rae came out with some music recently! This isn't it, but rather an older song that feels like spring, "Paris Nights, New York Mornings."

Favorite Recipe: Hoping to make this for breakfast on Sunday!

Avocado Bacon and eggs - one of our favorite breakfast recipes. They're topped with cheese and so delicious!

Favorite Video: Back in 2011, Mac Miller gained fame with his hit "Donald Trump." Now he's made a mash-up using Trump's "Make America Great Again" campaign, and its' pretty spot on!

Favorite Quote: Re-post from Being Beth's IG.

  • I haven't been able to put together my thoughts and feelings about the recent Stanford rape case in a logical, cohesive fashion, so I'm highlighting a few blogs that I whole heartedly agree with and have done a far better job expressing themselves than I could.
  • And now apparently Mr. Turner is getting out 3 MONTHS EARLIER. I cannot begin to fully express my rage at this news.
  • Moving on... Can someone in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas please try the "Whopperito" and tell me how it is? It's not being sold nation-wide :(
  • All you bloggers are surely aware that it's Bath and Body Works semi-annual sale, amiright? But did you know that this weekend those coveted 3-wick candles are only $10?
  • Also, Madison Square Eats pop-up food market is now open for the month in the plaza next to Madison Square Park in NYC. Can't wait to check out some of the newcomers!

Friday Favorites: First in June

This week I dealt with a lot of first world problems, and I'm glad it's over. I'll be sure to tell you allll about them... next week. For now I'm trying to forget and get to the weekend! I'm heading "DTS" for the first time this season, since last week it was a madhouse, and then brunch with friends on Sunday- yay! Kicking it off with some favorites and Amanda

Favorite Song: Try not to bop a little... Twenty One Pilots- Ride

Favorite Moments:

Favorite Video: This is from Blue's niece's Graduation party a few weeks ago. The college graduates wanted to take on the "adults" in flip cup. I honestly don't remember the last time I played any drinking game. I'm at the end; I stopped drinking midway through my turn because I thought the other team had already won... oops. I'm wearing my sassypants as well.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!:

First, I just want to say thank you for reading and responding to my last post. I gotta say, for a country filled with so many different cultures, languages, and religions, and so many freedoms, we're not a very tolerant bunch, and that's sad. But I'm glad that I can share some of more serious concerns on here and open it p for discussion. We'll never be able to get over these issues without conversations. So thanks for taking the time to share your points of view and stories with me! Jenn touched on the issue of tolerance further, so be sure to check that out too.

Everyone excited for a three day weekend?! I know a lot of people are off or getting out early today too- lucky bitches! This weekend my first order of business is to remember the fallen (specifically my grandpa, who served in Vietnam). My mom and I are going to do... something. I'm not sure yet. Other than that, there will be grilling and burgers and parades- hurray! What are you up to? Short and sweet post today- linking up with Amanda!

Favorite Song: Terrible lyrics, but it's so damn catchy, I can't help but love it! Don't Mind- Kent Jones

Favorite Upcoming Events:

Favorite Video(s): I'm pretty sure everyone has already seen Chewbacca Mom, but in case you missed it, here ya go.  And then she took James Corden to work and met JJ Abrams.

And then this... this is actually my friend's son, PJ, and this video won the AMerica's Funniest Home Video's grand prize... a trip to Shanghai Disney! His first words on National TV: "We did it!"

Favorite Moment: Finally celebrated Mother's Day with manis/pedis, shopping and wine this week!

Favorite Funnies:
Stabler never looked so good
PS. It's National Hug Your Cat Day!

Friday Favorites: Mid-May

This week was dragging ever-so-slow, but meeting up with an old friend for dinner helped get me through. This weekend I'm headed to another friend's birthday shenanigans and a party for Blue's niece who just graduated from college. Bring on all the good food, and cake! But first, gotta kick it off with some favorites from this week with Amanda!

Favorite Song: Oh Adele, you kill me with your lyrics once again. Send My Love (To Your New Lover)- Adele

"Send my love to your new lover
Treat her better
We've gotta let go of all of our ghosts
We both know we're not kids anymore"

Favorite Lust Item: This fun and summery Kate Spade watch!

I've mentioned how I think making (and maintaining) friendships as an adult can be hard, but this is especially true if you move to a new area. Kasi recently shared an app called "Hey! Vina" which she describes as "Tinder for Friends." I'm intrigued to see how it works.

Micah shared her thoughts on taking detours in life, particularly career-wise, a topic I've been thinking about a lot lately. I was feeling pretty depressed about it, like How did I even get here? but I'm starting to realize that is IS okay. And if I want to make a change, well, I should just go do it. I'm working on that part.

You know those plastic rings on 6-packs (that you're supposed to cut so that birds/fish/etc won't get trapped in them when they land in whatever wasteland they make it to) that are incredibly harmful for our environment? Well Saltwater Brewery in Florida came up with a solution: 100% biodegradable, compostable, and EDIBLE (for humans and animals, but meant for the fishies) 6 pack rings. How cool is that?

Favorite Moment of the Week:
Dinner for my friend's birthday last night at Kraverie, a Korean BBQ+creperie. Not pictured: the amazing Nutella/banana/strawberry crepe we had for dessert. NOMS.
