"True Blood" Ain't for the Faint of Heart

I am waaaaay over this vampire craze that's gripping the nation.
I was never really into it in the first place.

Sure, I saw Twilight (the first...and second...oops) but only becasue the first time, my friend suggested going to see a movie, and I was bored, and had no idea what it was about. (I ahve no excuse for the second, except for the fact that the same friend asked me again, and since I had seen the first one and it wasn't too terrible, I went). Obviously, I had been living under a rock. But I don't like Kristin Stewart- she's a snob, and not even that cute....I don't like Robert Pattinson- the guy doesn't even wash his hair, I think he really is that pale in real life, and he's also a snob. And then there was Taylor Lautner...ok he's cute. And non-snobby. But now there are werewolves? Really?

Then came the Vampire Diaries. Ok tweens, more for you to love. It looks like Gossip Girls, except the blood sucking bitches actually do suck your blood. Umm no thanks.

True Blood, however, got me from the first episode I saw, somewhere in the middle of Season 2. I quickly went back and watched all of Season 1 so I could catch up and know what was going on (it didn't help too much). It wasn't so much the blood-sucking that I enjoyed, because I actually hate gore. But I really liked the characters, and the storyline.

The end of Season 2 was a doozy. (Maryanne? Stakings? Crazy Church people?!) But now even  True Blood went the werwolf route. Not that I'm complaining...
(Sorry C! Love u though!)
*le sigh*

But now Season 3...Oh how you've pulled me in to your crazy crazy web. First we got Sookie, whose accent, as point-on-Louisiana it may be, I can't stand! Ugh, it drives me crazy. And her obsession with Bill Compton. I'm so over their twisted relationship.

We know Sookie, you want to be a lil vampire bride...we get it. Now shut the hell up and let's hear the rest of the charaters story. Like the trio of redheads...

Newly vamped, Jessica: I like her, but it seems she may be gone by next week...boo...
Arlene: I love her relationship with Terry... and she's hilarious.
The Queen Sophie Ann: I don't really like her. She just seems so...dumb. But anywho...that's a lot of red in one show!

I like Sam with his new family storyline too...birds, and pitbulls, and drunks, oh my!

And Eric...with your new Viking vengeance against the King of Mississippi...love it! You just won some major brownie points. Especialy since before you were all into Sookie. (Ew.)

But nothing could thrill me more than Lafayette with his new gay lover, Jesus! Too bad he's anti-V! :(

And that's just the beginning. Can't forget about Jason (Sookie's crazy sex-obsessed bro) and his new nymph. And don't even get me started on Tara and her lil vamp-bride groom, Franklin! More next week....but first...
woof!

You're welcome :)

1. When was the last time that you watched a sunrise? Who were you with?

Fabulous Summer Weekend!

This post is a bit overdue. My apologies. I've been a bit under the weather the last few days. Last weekend was a lil crazy. It started on Friday. I had taken off work to go down the shore. And yes, I say "down the shore" because I'm from Jersey and that's what we say.
Me and some girls had planned a "Girls Beach Day." It just so happened, however, that C had called out of work on Thursday, and his [very generous] boss let him have Friday too! So he was going to come too. I had told my one friend who lives nearby to meet at my place, and C would drive us to the beach. All was well and dandy until we were about 20 min into the drive, and we heard a loud
*THUMP!*

uh oh...

Yup. Car broke. I don't know exactly how it happened, but upon taking it in C found out that some valve broke, which was causing the weird gravely-crunching sound we heard on the way back to the apartment. So he didn't get to come to beach day, as he had to take the car in. Booo.

But my friend drove, and it was awesome. We went to Point Pleasant Beach- to Martell's Tiki Bar to be exact. I love drinking on the beach. Especially when they serve you- you don't even have to get up! (Which makes for some interesting faltering when you've had one too many and get up to leave...but that's a whole other story). So we drank, and chatted, and I made a new friend. Her name is Ashley*. She mentioned that she is going skydiving for her 30th birthday.

Skydiving?
REALLY??!!
I've alwayssss wanted to go skydiving!
And she said I could come!

WOOOHOOO!

So I'm going on July 29th....I can hardly contain myself! Of course C thinks I'm crazy and refuses to jump- but he will come to watch. And I mentioned it to my mom...she wants to meet sometime during that week for my "last meal." Weirdo.

So that was fun. And not as full of guidos as expected. It was on a Friday though. We went again on Sunday (just me and C) and it looked exactly like this:
Eewww.

But back to Friday- after the beach, I had enough time to shower, rehydrate, and rush out the door to see George Clinton & P Funk at the Starland Ballroom. It was fun. C got a lil drunk, which I always enjoy. And the show was cool...except for teh fact that George Clinton barely sang...
 at all.

I was like...erm...wth? Why isn't he singing? I don't understand, it's his show and his band and yet he's got like his whole family and family's family up tehre singing for him! That was a lil redic. And I was a lil annoyed. But not enough to not have an awesome time.

Saturday, we were supposed to do one of 2 things.
1) Go to Island Beach State Park for his friend's birthday.
2) Go to my friend's pool party in North Jerz.

We did neither. We laid in bed alll dayyyyyy.
And it was fab-u-lous.
Especially when we weren't sleeping *bow chicka bow bow!*

Eventually we got up, and lazed around in the living room, before he suggested a nice dinner out. We went here:
Lambertville Station

We were going to go to that guy from Top Chef, Kevin Spraga,'s restaurant, Rat's, at The Grounds for Sculpture, but I didn't see anything on the menu I loved. So we went here. The lobster adn shrimp bisque was to die for. The mojito pork, not so much. But whatevs. It was still nice to get all dressed up and go out, eat, drink some wine, and take a nice romantic walk with C.

Five & Ten

INSTRUCTIONS
(1) Turn on your MP3 player/iPod. I just fired up the iTunes on my computer

(2) Go to SHUFFLE songs mode. Done

(3) Write down the first TEN songs that come up–song title and artist–NO editing/cheating, please (even if letting the world know you listen to crap “Weekend in New England” will humiliate you). Pfft. I love how eclectic my music collection is; I won’t lie to you if The Muppets come up in the rotation

(4) Choose FIVE people to be tagged. It is generally considered to be in good taste to tag the person who tagged you, since there should be new songs appearing with Shuffle every time.
Ummm... I don't like tagging. So much pressure! So if you would like to play, go for it! And leave me a comment so I can check it out!

I didn't bother joining a gym. I did start a cycling class. I made it twice before quitting. Then I hit up the gym at my apartment complex once. Oops.

Wednesday Wickedness

Today we picked Robert Pattinson. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "I don't really see the point in washing your hair. If you don't care if your hair's clean or not then why would you wash it?" How often do you wash your hair?
About twice a week. More if it's really hot out and I'm going curly.

2. "I take way too long to get dressed, like way too long. But only for things like shows or if I have to do public appearances. Like, I’m ridiculous, I’ll keep getting changed and getting changed and then I’ll just put on the same thing I wore the day before." Do you take longer to dress for a special event?
Who doesn't? If there's a special event, you want to look your best! Sometimes it can take me a little longer on a regular day if I'm being indecisive too.

3. "My dad's a car dealer, but I grew up in London, so I always say I don't drive…I get driven. I got a driving lesson in Oregon, and then I bought a car in L.A. and I basically learned how to drive by people honking at me. I'm terrible at driving." Are you a good driver?
Nope. Though not sure anymore, I haven't driven in a few years because I'm living in a metro area and commute a lot.

4. "I don't spend any money. The only thing I've really bought is my car, which cost $1,500 and keeps exploding. It would be nice to buy a house for my parents, but at the same time my parents are so comfortable where they live; they would probably just feel like it was a burden. I wear the same clothes every day and the only thing I used to splurge on was DVDs." If you had his money, what would be the first thing you spent it on?
Paying off debts/college loans. Then buying a house.

5. "I aspire to be Jack Nicholson. I love every single mannerism. I used to try and be him in virtually everything I did, I don't know why. I watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest when I was about 13, and I dressed like him. I tried to do his accent. I did everything like him. I think it's kind of stuck with me." Who is your favorite actor?
I loooove Julia Roberts. Sandra Bullock in close second. I will watch anything with them in it. I can't wait for "Eat, Pray, Love" to come out!

6. "Someone stole my shoelaces once from my shoes. I still wear them and never put laces in them - they're like my trademark shoes now!" Have you ever changed your appearance because of a random happenstance?
Hmmm I don't think so. Nothing comes to mind.

7. "I never really considered myself attractive. I was always kind of gangly in school." Do you consider yourself attractive?
Yes, but I didn't think so in high school.

8. "I definitely want to record an album, direct a film and start my own religion. I definitely wouldn’t have to pay taxes anymore.” If you started your own religion, what would it be like?
I don't want to start a new religion. There are already too many religions and fighting because of it. And sidenote: I thought Robert Pattinson hated being famous? Why would he want to record an album?!

9. "I do bear some similarities in the sense that I’m not good at romance. I also think I lack basic finesse when it comes to women. I give up too easily even if I’m very attracted to someone." Have you ever given up too easily in the game of love?
No. I don't think I've ever given up when it comes to love- if anything I may have made it try to work too hard, or been overly persistent. I like going after what I want.

10. " I don’t want to disappoint girls who might think I’m very cool and smooth, which I’m not, I’m afraid. I’m still quite shy, although that seems to be something of an attraction for women." Are you, or have you ever been attracted to shy people?
Yes, definitely. There's something cute about a guy who's a little shy. A little bit. Not someone who completely clams up and gets awkward.

5. Tell us about the shyest person that you deal with regularly.
Shy? I don't know too many shy people.

6. What is your vision of heaven and hell?
Heaven has lots of sunshine, chocolate, and an open bar. Hell has lots of fire, and I imagine large rocks that you have to pull with a chain up extremely steep hills...over your back.

It's an apartment complex with a large parking lot and lots of kids on bikes.

8. What's your favorite cook-out food?
Chicken skewers with peppers. And macaroni and potato salad.

Savion Glover!

C and I had a date night last night. It was great. First, we went to brgr and had cheeseburgers and beer. I got mine with avocado. I love avocado. But it was so thin, you couldn't really taste it. It was still delicious though.

Then we went to see Savion Glover: SoLe PoWeR at the Joyce Theater in NYC. We had 3rd row seats, but were able to move back (it was waaay better to see his footwork from an elevated seat). For those who don't know who he is, he was one of the main stars in Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk. It was such an amazing show. I definitely liked the second half more than the first, because it was more like a dance routine instead of him explaining the difference between a step and a sound. And the music was way better- the first half the music was kinda slow and spacey- it was making me a little tired. But in the first half they turned out all the lights at once point, and I closed my eyes and just listened, and that was pretty cool.

The second part definitely had more flair. It had a bit of a storyline, some funny, cute parts, crazy lights, more upbeat music- just awesome. Oh, and apparently one of the girls goes to the school where I work! I'm totally going to stalk and meet her next semester! Very excited.

After the show, we went back to brgr because they boasted having "The #1 MilkShake in NYC." So we had to check it out. The #1 was a blueberry-pomagranate though, and we weren't feeling that. C got strawberry, and I got the 2nd best in NY, the black and white (chocolate and vanilla).
I totally see why they won awards for their milkshakes.

Rock on!
