Single Girl Behavior

C has been locked away in the cave alll dayyyyyy. (I renamed one of the rooms in our apartment to the cave because he holes up in there in the dark with video games...it's cave-like. I fear bats may fly out of there at some point soon.)

He has come out only to eat and pee. I can't say I expected this, though I suppose it's normal weird boy behavior.

Being that I've been mostly alone all day, it reminded me of that Sex and The City episode where all the girls share their "weird single girl" behaviors. Like Carrie, standing in the kitchen eating crackers with jelly, and Miranda watching QVC.

So a review of some of my weird single girl (or boy-locked-away-in-a-room-so-I-might-as-well-be-here-by-myself) behavior:
  • watching terrible TV. That includes Gilmore Girls, Law & Order:SVU marathons, and chick flicks (today included Happy Feet and Beverly Hills Chihuahua).
  • checking in on all my favorite blogs, and searching for new ones
  • blogging and/or writing
  • reviewing my old Time Out magazines and writing down all the "to check out" places in my notebook. This one requires explaining. For at least 6 months now, I have been receiving Time Out magazine weekly, though I don't remember subscribing to it or paying for it. Anyway, I used to skim them for cool new places to check out in NYC, but now that's a lot harder to do being that I don't live or work in NYC. Buuuut...I still like to do it.
  • sweatpants, a bottle of wine, and cleaning

TMI Thursday...I'm a little late

1. Have you ever mooned/flashed anyone? How long ago?
I have mooned someone in a car while I was in a car, a reaaally realllly long time ago, like before college. Other than that, C tries to get me to all the time, but I'm self-conscious.

2. Pick an animal that best displays your personality.
A monkey. I'm fun and silly,...and have long toes that I can grab things with. I know, pretty gross.

3. Do you mail out holiday cards, and if so, how do you pick the list?
No. But we've been receiving lots of holiday cards this year, so we may have to join the bandwagon soon...

4. How often do you wear something sexy to get attention (lingerie, low cut dress, silk boxers, etc...)?
I work in an office, so I don't do sexy to work. As for lingerie...when I'm really horny and wanna get some ;)

5. Have you ever tasted breast milk SINCE you were an adult?
Ew. No.

Bonus: Do you like "talking" when you have sex?
No. Moaning, breathing heavily, bursting out with uncontrolled verbiage sure... but not actual "talking."

Double Bonus: If Santa is a guy, how is it that he never seems to get lost?
He doesn't drive- it's all in the reindeers. Those antlers got GPS installed.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Which is more important of the two in "chemisty," physical attractiveness or emotional attractiveness?
Physical attractiveness is important in the beginning. You're not going to go out with someone who doesn't revv your engine at all. But emotional attractiveness is more important in the long run.

2. On a scale from 1-10, how kinky are you?
Hmm 3-4. I used to think I was more adventurous, but I get self-conscious. Unless of course you just surprise me with it.

3. Sitting on Santa's lap... fun or creepy?
I haven't sat on Santa's lap since I was a kid. I think it's only creepy if you're Santa and you're thinking creepy thoughts while there's a kid on top of you.

4. Have you ever fallen asleep or passed out during sex?
Haha! No.

5. Do you wear socks to bed? Is that okay or totally unsexy?
I used to wear socks to bed, when I was alone. Now that I ahve someone in my bed, it's pretty unsexy.

Bonus: What is your greatest strength? Weakness?
Strength- manipulation. Weakness- guilt.
----------------------------------------------------------------

1. What are your feelings about traditional bachelor/bachelorette parties?
I think they are necessary and fun! Though I don't want to think about/hear about/witness what my guy is doing during his bachelor party. In that case, ignorance is bliss. Though if I found out he slept with a stripper, the marriage would be seriously delayed if not cancelled completely.

2. Do you wear (or not wear) something special to bed/dress differently when you want to have sex?
It really depends on my mood, but generally yes.

3. Do you ever fake orgasms?
No. I've (luckily) never had to.

4. Do you own any leather or rubber clothing?
I do, but not for sexual purposes.

5. On a scale from 1-10, how willing are you to do something in bed you don't want to just because you are asked?
Depends what it is. I don't like giving oral, but I will (on occasion) when I'm asked. Something I tihnk is gross, like golden showers, not so much.

Bonus: Can men and women be "just friends?"
I always think of the movie "When Harry Met Sally" when I hear this question. No, they can't just be friends. There is always some sort of attraction, whether it's on the male or female side. Doesn't have to be physical-- emotional and intellectual count as well.

Best of 09: December 1-14

I found this recently, and it seemed like not only a wonderful idea, but also a way to re-motivate myself into posting. So without further ado, Best of 09- December 1-14 :)

December 1: Trip. What was your best trip in 2009?
HAWAII. One of the bestest trips in my whole life. I really never expected to actually go to Hawaii unless it was on a honeymoon or something, but going for someone else's wedding was even better. We went snorkeling, saw a sunrise from atop a volcano, biked down said volcano, witnessed a real luau (with real free Mai Tais!), discovered hidden pools in bamboo forests, jumped from waterfalls...and went with a group of really cool, chill friends. Best.Vacation.

December 2: Restaurant Moment. Share the best restaurant experience you had this year. Who was there? What made it amazing? What taste stands out in your mind?
I'm actually not sure if it happened very early this year or very late last year, but going for tapas at my favorite wine bar, Las Ramblas. It was special because I got to share one of my favorite places with C, and it was hysterical because I got him to do the porron!

December 3: Article. What's an article that you read that blew you away? That you shared with all your friends. That you Delicious'd and reference throughout the year.
I wouldn't say I "delicious'd" it through the year, but I was pretty surprised by reading about how my boss was the #1 Entrepreneur of the Year, and why, especially since I literally worked with the woman everyday.

December 4: Book. What book - fiction or non - touched you? Where were you when you read it? Have you bought and given away multiple copies?
I thought it would have been Eat, Pray, Love, as I was beside myself to read it, but it turned out to be somewhat disappointing. I guess the best book this year was Baltzac and the Little Seamstress. I read it in 2 days on my commute to/from work. I was surprised by the ending, and the descriptions were vivid. Plus, I'm a fan of shorter stories in general. Cute story.

December 5: Night Out. Did you have a night out with friends or a loved one that rocked your world? Who was there? What was the highlight of the night?
Gauri's Birthday Party in NYC. I don't remember exactly where it was, but my friend Chiquita came in from PA and we pre-gamed and got ready together, and then had such an awesome night. Highlight was the dancing and champagne :) The next day was fun too, as all we did was watch an SVU and Golden Girls marathon, and eat massive amounts of junk food!

December 6: Workshop or conference. Was there a conference or workshop you attended that was especially beneficial? Where was it? What did you learn?
Young Professional's Global Entrepreneurship Week. The conference itself was not very educational/helpful, however I did learn that you should probably not start planning an event the same day you intend to host it.

December 7: Blog of the Year. That gem of a blog you can't believe you didn't know about until this year.
This was the first "couple" blog I stumbled upon. They are so cute. I recommend everyone check them out! http://taza-and-husband.blogspot.com/

December 8: Moment of peace. An hour or a day or a week of solitude. What was the quality of your breath? The state of your mind? How did you get there?
I have two. On my morning commute, with my small french vanilla coffee (and occasionally a good book). And usually late Saturday afternoons, or Sunday evening, when C is playing videogames or doing his schoolwork, and I get to curl up with a cheesy romantic comedy or Gilmore Girls, my Time Out magazine, and iced tea. MMmmm.

December 9: Challenge. Something that really made you grow this year. That made you go to your edge and then some. What made it the best challenge of the year for you?
Beginning to manage my debt. It came about rather unexpectedly, and at a really horrendous time, but with the help of C, I'm starting to work through it. Which is good, because I can't run away for ever, and I know that he's going to be there for me and try to help any way he can.

December 10: Album of the Year. What's rocking your world?
I can't think of one album, so I'll answer this one mixtape style:
1. I Am- Nelly Furtado
2. Hey, Soul Sister- Train
3. Be Ok- Chrisette Michele
4. Don't Stay- Laura Izibor
5. Breathe Slow- Alesha Dixon
6. Tik Tok- Kesha
7. The Time Is Now- Moloko
8. Empire State of Mind- JayZ ft. Alicia Keys
9 . Paparazzi- Lady Gaga
10. Replay- Iyaz
11. I Got a Feeling- Black Eyed Peas
12. Wanted- Jesse James

December 11: The Best Place. A coffee shop? A pub? A retreat center? A cubicle? A nook?
C's soft leather couch in our living room. *happy sigh*

December 12: New food. You're now in love with Lebanese food and you didn't even know what it was in January of this year.
Hmmm...unfortunately I don't think I've been too adventurous with food this year...will have to give some more thought...

December 13: What's the best change you made to the place you live?
I moved!!! I no longer have to deal with annoying roommates, or being so far away from C! Now the biggest complaint is my commute, but it's nice to come home and be able to relax without any worries! And I love the fact that we are in a very safe, pretty neighborhood, and that our apartment is roomy enough that we're not on top of each other all the time. And I love being able to snuggle on the couch on a daily basis. And most recently, I love that we are in the process of decorating for the holidays!

December 14: Rush. When did you get your best rush of the year?
I wouldn't say it was a good rush, but losing my job. It motivated me to find a position in higher education, which is where I wanted to be and where I want to start a career.

Ok so....

i went to Puerto Rico for 4 days. I got eaten by mosquitoes. I went for my best friend's son's baptism, and was made a Godmother...yay! He's so cute. I saw my grandpa, and C met my grandpa, and it was totally un-noteworthy. I was stressed for absolutely no reason. My mom was there, which made the whole occasion more stressful, but he was sick so he couldn't really spend time with us. We stayed in his extra house though, which was cool (and cheaper). And saw my great-uncle, Vicente. Grandpa looks a lot worse than I remember, and last time I saw him was a year ago. Mom was soooo annoying-- as C said "I have never met anyone more ADD than her". Thanks mom. Oh, and "I don't ever want to go on vacation with you and your mom. My vacation would be getting to stay home." Again, thanks momma dearest. You have officially scared the crap outta my boyfriend. Sweet.

In other news, my last day at my current job is a week from today. I have been downsized....oof. At least they are giving me severance, and I have been on the hunt. I actually had an interview today. *finggers crossed*

I really want to go out for Halloween. C wants to stay home and "relax." Halloween is finally on a SATURDAY! We should be going out and having fun!!! But no. The last 2years of Halloween weren't fun either. He messed it up last year because he went to the Phillies World Series parade and we were supposed to go to the NYC parade with my friend, but by the time he got in the parade was almost over and my friend was drunk. Then we went to some bars and a mostly dead (not in the fun-Halloween-y way)house party. The year before I went out with coworkers and saw the parade (yay!) but afterwards we were supposed to go to Buddakan and we stood in line for like 2 hours, almost got ina fight with several people on line, and didn't even get in, even though we were on the damn guest list. So Whack.

Oh, and C and I went pumpkin picking about 2 weeks ago. We got 3 big pretty pumpkins that we were waiting to carve after our trip to PR. And somenoe STOLE them from right outside our apartment. WHO STEALS PUMPKINS!!! Argh!

"You be the Prince and I'll be the Princess"

The following is something I found on this blog. It's kind of funny, because I had a wishlist of things I wanted in a guy (I actually still have the original wishlist, though updates have been made!). I remember wanting some of these same things when I was younger. But alas, you grow up, you stop believing in fairy tales, and realize that sometimes, imperfections can be perfect.
(My thoughts in black)

If only fairy dream can turn into reality,

I would create a love story of my own. With a prince riding on a white horse with armor coming to my rescue whenever I face danger. Or a vampire boy like Edward Cullen in the Twilight series that is ever so over protecting and loving.

Princes on white horses are overrated. And I would much rather be able to fend for myself than have to depend on some guy to "over protect" me.

Someone that is tough and strong that will never ever allow me to get hurt. Not even by a strand of hair. Honestly, sometimes you need to get burned to learn. You gotta take the rain with the sunshine to get a rainbow. Though a lil muscle never hurt ;)

Someone that will whisper promises into my ears late at night and making me believe that dreams may come true the next day.
Patience is a virtue. It makes you appreciate whatever you were waiting for more.
A prince that is always by my side holding me tight never letting go no matter what the world may bring to us.
Again, you have to face some trials in order to grow as an individual. It's nice to have someone around to lean on sometimes, but you need to learn to be self-sufficient.

Someone that is never fails to understand and cares for me whenever I am in doubt.
I agree with this one!

Someone that will make my whole world spin when I saw him. Someone that will make my heart beats faster and faster without control whenever I am with him.
That's lust+love. I'm all for it.

Someone that will wipe my tears whenever it falls and make me smile when I had a bad day.
:)

Someone that will never be afraid to voice out their own opinions and also tease me at the same time.
This is one I had almost verbatim! I'm not afraid of a little debate and difference of opinion- in fact, I welcome that idea! Having someone agree with everything you have to say and every opinion is boring (I know from personal experience)!! The person you are with was a person before you and should have their own idea about things and the ability to support and communicate those ideas. And the teasing shows the fun side- you need to have a sense of humor and not take yourself too seriously!

Someone that will correct me and teach me from the mistakes I make.
This is a more recent addition to my list. 1. I like learning new things. 2. I would rather be corrected than continuing making the same mistake over and over again!
Someone that will make me suffocate just by the scent of the air filled by him.
Um please don't suffocate me. I need my personal space sometimes.

and lastly say, Daphnee, you are my princess and the Queen of my heart. Can I be yours too?

I think this is called a marriage proposal. Though this is a sweet way of putting it :)

Thoughts?

The Move

Well, it has been a little while, but I have been super busy trying to settle in to the new place and balance work/friends/and C!

Updates from the last post: I wound up taking off move in day. And I'm very glad I did. Two of C's friends that were supposed to help us move bailed! So I was able to add some much needed assistance. Plus it was good that I was there to do the walk through. The move went pretty smoothly, except for dropping the TV once, but it didn't break! And C and I going a little crazy because his parents were there, but whatevs- it all worked out in the end.

So we moved August 25th. So far, living together has been great! We get into little fights here and there, but my favorite part about living together instead of living and 1 1/2 apart and only seeing each other 2x a week:

the fights. end. so much. quicker!

We're both pretty passionate people, and we both have hot tempers, but now we can just talk about whatever is making us mad instead of holding it in and blowing up, or screaming through a phone and hanging up on each other and not talking for a few days. *happy sigh*

Anywho, in weekend news:
  • Friday was spent hanging up artwork and pictures, and it made the apartment feel much more like home.
  • Saturday slept in (always good!), then hung out with an old friend in Philadelphia. It was really great catching up, and we went to a Philly Fringe show which was interesting to say the least! Followed by draco fruit bubble tea at a bubble tea bar in Chinatown. YUM!
  • Sunday slept in a little, got bagels, watched some of the Eagles game (stupid McNabb...), cleaned a little, caught up with a few old friends via phone, and watched True Blood. I was not impressed, especially since it was the season finale.

That's all for now! Oh, and if anyone needs a cheese and cracker party purchased, planned, and executed in one hour, I'm your girl!!

Friday 5 for August 21

First post, so I needed some help!

1.Who in your life is most likely at any time to be in a state of confusion? other than myself,...Chiquita.

2.Some people have described nirvana as a state of perfect nothingness. Which of the fifty United States could best be described as a state of perfect nothingness? I haven't been to a lot of middle America, but I've seen Arizona/Utah, and that looked pretty flat and dry and "nothingness"-y.

3.When were you last asked to state your name and address? This afternoon when I was reserving a UHaul.

4.How many of the United States have you been in? I believe at least 15

5.Why does it seem harder to maintain a positive state of mind than to maintain a negative state of mind? I think it's because, at least for me, I keep dwelling on the negatitve, or whatever got me in the negative state of mind to begin with. Plus, there are lots of little things that can get you to that negative frame of mind easier than vice versa.

Hooray for Friday! Though this is one of the slowest days everrrrr. I'm very excited for my girl Laly's wedding tonight. Actually, she's already married, but she never got to have a reception and celebrate with all her friends and family, so tonight's basically the party night! W00t!

This will be my 4th wedding with The Boy, 2nd one this summer (though the first was in Hawaii, so it will be very hard to beat!). I love weddings- they're so happy. I feel like it's hard to not be happy at a wedding.

Last night was my last night living and sleeping by myself for at least one year, if not ever. I'm moving in with The Boy tomorrow! We have to spend 3 nights at his place now, and then we can move into our place (it's not ready until Tuesday). Luckily he has off that day, and has a helper, so by the time I get off work and commute the hour to our new home, we should be mostly moved in- yay! I'm super excited to move, though I have had some naysayers I'm trying to convince that it will work out. We've had a few ups and downs, but I feel that most of it was because of distance (we live 1 1/2- 2 hrs apart, and only see each other weekends and once in a while on Wednesdays if he comes up). So this will be a BIG change, but I'm looking forward to it. The 2 weeks in Hawaii was a bit of a trial run, though on vacation, and it went really really well. So...we'll see what happens!
