Bad Blogger!

It's true... I have been a very bad blogger. In my defense, I have been a bit preoccupied/busy. Excuses? Maybe. Oh wells, I'm back now!

So where have I been? Well, about 3 weeks ago (sheesh it has been awhile!) I was in Atlantic City, NJ for my friend's bachelorette party! It was super fun! We started at Trump's Beach Bar, where we enjoyed lots of ice cold bevvies, sun, and a Captain Morgan competition. What, pray tell, is a Captain Morgan competition? Well, basically the Captain comes, and lets a bunch of drunken fools get on the dance floor and pose like this:

minus the sword and barrel...so just trying to keep balance. And do a bunch of other poses too. And the winner gets money or something. It was quite entertaining.

After that, we checked in to the Borgata. But as there were about 10 of us, and 2 hotel rooms, some of us had to stay back so the guest services people wouldn't know. (We brought air mattresses with us, so it wasn't like we were all squished. And lots of snacks and booze.) So we had to go back and forth a few times to pass back the room key, which wasn't so bad. But see, I had made cupcakes for the occasion. Decorated cupcakes... that I painstakingly drew peni on to, one by one, at like midnight the night before. And I was carrying a case of water along with my overnight bag. So when my friend offered to carry them for a while, I said ok. And as we  were trying to be very discreet entering the "guest only" area by the elevators, she did the unthinkable.

That's right.

She dropped them.

The whole baking pan full. Of peni cupcakes. Was ruined.

weren't they cute?!

I wish I could say I didn't mind. But I did. It was the first time I even attempted to decorate cupcakes, and the bride to be didn't even get to see them! Thankfully it was an aluminum pan (so no shattering glass, and the cupcakes were covered and still good). And the ladies did eat them all at like, 4AM when they got back. Unfortunately I didn't get even one! But I heard they were delish, and that's what really counted!

Anyway, we finally all got up to the rooms, changed for dinner, and played games. Except, I was up late the night before, and after drinking all day, was tired. I managed to play one game before curling up in teh corner of the bed and falling asleep!!!

Soooo bad!

The bride-to-be's sister even started jumping on the bed to wake me up! I am told I looked up at her briefly before puling the covers over my head! But I wasn't done for the evening- I just needed a little cat nap! So after games (and shots, which I also missed, but am very happy about because I am no good at taking shots...or saying no...) we went to dinner, followed by dancing the night away at Mixx.

It was great when we first got there- great music, room to dance, decent crowd. But soon they started playing only techno. I don;t know about you, but I like to know what I'm dancing too, especially if I can sing along. And it got super crowded. AND,....no one would dance with me! This was most upsetting! I even texted the boyfriend complaining about it! I have no idea why, but whatevs. Then I became one of the "guards" of the bride to be, as the men folk were getting a little frisky, and some had to be told point blank to get away from her!

Overall, it was a super fun bachelorette party! Not very scandalous, but definitely a great time with awesome friends. I especially liked the fact that dinner and dancing were in one hotel- so if anyone got tired or cranky or whatever, they could leave without inconveniencing the rest of the party. Great idea!

Tunery Tuesday: All I Wanted Was You- Paramore

Apparently this song was in P.S. I Love You, but I just heard it on a Showtime commercial. I love Haley's voice.

"I could follow you to the beginning
Just to relive the start
Maybe then we'd remember to slow down
At all of our favorite parts"

Tunery Tuesday: O.A.R - Heaven

So I just learned what O.A.R. stood for- Of a Revolution...crazy!

"maybe i should take my time
and build this life by my own design
with no direction and it’s in between
everything i love, and everything i need

i know and i believe
everything we got is everything we need
love’ll get you higher
it set my heart on fire
i know it’s what you see
don’t wanna go to heaven if they don’t want me"

What are you listening to?

Ready to Party- AC Style!

Today a bunch of girls will be taking over Atlantic City,NJ for my friend's Bachelorette Partyyyy. I can't WAIT! My bag is packed, the beer and water (for hangover hydration) have been purchased, the morning coffee has been had...now I'm just waiting for my friend to pick me up and off we go!
I my wonderfully domestic boyfriend C baked cupcakes for the occasion- but I decorated each one with a penis! It was my first time actually trying to decorate/draw on food- it was fun! And the convo while I was doing it was even better--

me: this one is small...
C: sometimes they're small
me: this one is crooked...
C: well, some have a lean!
me: these don't really look like penises (peni?)
C: draw a tip...just the tip!

annnnd it just got worse from there! I can't wait to share them with the girls and you!! Pics to follow (of cupcakes....probably not too many from the night- what happens in AC stays in AC!)

Hope you all have a lovely and fun weekend!

In De-Nile

It's here! The first human case of the West Nile virus was reported in New Jersey.
See for yourself right here.

And it's not just "somewhere in New Jersey"...it's actually one town over from where I live. I have to admit, I'm a little scared. Mosquitoes LOVE me, and they show their affection by leaving welts on me on a very regular basis (like anytime I'm outside).

Not only am I a bit scared, but I'm also slightly (very slightly) amused. C's mom has been trying to talk C and I out of going to India since the moment we mentioned that we might be going. Other than the cost, she has been trying to dissuade us with accounts of various viruses and sicknesses we could contract, comparing where we will be to the only thing she has seen about India, which was Slumdog Millionaire. Personally, I'm a bit offended by her comments, and I've told her so. I mean, I AM Indian. Just because I wasn't born there, practice Islam or Hinduism, or speak a foreign language doesn't make me any less Indian...

Well, ok, maybe that does make me less Indian, culturally speaking, but that's not my point...

My point is that I get offended, and she doesn't seem to care because she sees me as "white" even though I'm brown. When I told her I was offended, she just said "Oh, no you're not [Indian]" or "I don't mean you" and shrugged it off, like how could I possibly be offended. But I was, and I got a little more so every time she made a negative comment about India. Other than the few times I've mentioned it to her and C, I've been pretty good about trying to ignore her comments.

Wow... I didn't even realize how mad I was about that. Major tangent- sorry.

My real point is that here she is trying to scare us into not going overseas because of various diseases, and now there's a major one, West Nile, right in her backyard.

I mean, isn't it ironic? [don't you think?!]

The Happy List - August

Oh HAAAAIIIII!

It's AUGUST already! How about them apples?!
Anyone else feel like the summer has just flown by??!
I feel like 2 weeks ago it was Memorial Day Weekend...sheesh!
But I'm not mad, because this August I will be attending 2 of my friends' bachelorette parties AND a wedding! But aside from the fun festivities coming up, August brings some of my favorite things. Like...

Fun Office Supplies
It's true- I'm a sucker for office supplies. Going into Staples is like a kid going into a candy store...outta control. I love looking at all the fun gadgets and gizmos to make the work day go by just a little faster...or with a little more humor. C'mon, how could you not smile using this tape?!

Back To School Shopping
Ok, maybe I'm a bit old for "back to school" shopping, but I do love a good excuse to go shopping! When I was younger my mom and I would go to the mall and I'm sure we looked just like the pic above. True, slightly embarrassing, but how can you say no if your mom wants to buy you clothing? Just a hint- You don't!

Nowadays, if momma is unavailable for a fall shopping spree, I can usually talk C into taking me to the outlets. This is one of exactly two time a year that C will willingly go to the outlets (or go shopping for that matter)- once for summer shopping, and once for fall shopping. No, he will not buy me clothes. However...

...there are usually some pretty good Labor Day sales!!

I love Labor Day Weekend- it's like the "last hurray" of summer. And just like Memorial Day, there are usually bbq's or beach days involved. Plus, who doesn't love a day off from work?!

The other great part about August and shopping...
FALL FASHION!
I love fall fashion. I love the colors, the textures, the layered styles- it's my favorite.

Another thing I kinda love...
It's not that I'm soooo into football really. BUT a bunch of my friends decided to put together an all girls Fantasy Football League, of which I've been a proud member for almost 3 years now! [woot!] My main reason to join was because I figured by joining, I would be forced to learn the players and the game, and in turn be able to bond more with C, an avid football lover. And though he does love the Eagles, that's not why I chose them as my fave team. I really didn't get into football at all (even though I was a cheerleader growing up...oops!) until I went to college, and the Eagles trained at my college! So,...I've claimed them as my fave team :)

And one last thing to love about August...
The New York Renaissance Faire!

Oh yes, I am admitting that I am a major dork! But I looove the RenFaire! The first time I went was when I was in a sleep-away Girl Scout camp in upstate New York and we went for a field trip. I had such a great time! I actually found a pic of myself there just the other day- I'll try to remember to post it! But it's really fun- live jousting, live chess board, the maypole, the people all dressed up, the market, and, of course...
the food!
Turkey Legs anyone?!?!

What do you love about August?
Have any special plans??

Miscellany Monday: Work, Shots, and Weekends

Just a few random thoughts for today:

- I am more than a little annoyed that I cannot process my inventory at work without going through 3 levels of approvals. I don't need the CFO "okay-ing" my purchase of copy paper. I know it's "okay," I've been buying it for 2 years. This new financial system sucks!

- I am also tired of hearing people bitch and moan about when they will get their stuff. There is no way for me to track orders, and as I stated above...I have to wait for 3 people to approve my ish and this new systems sucks!

- I'm really happy that my insurance company covers my vaccines for the upcoming India trip. Now I just have to find a suitable doctor. Also, I am very afraid of needles...this will not go well.

- I'm pretty pissed that it did not rain yesterday and I did not go to the beach. Damn you, weathermen!

- This weekend was kinda bad. I don't want to get into details, but I'm very excited for next weekend... penises (peni?), slot machines, and dancing...Oh My!

Quotes of the Week!

There have been a few complaints due to my lack of posting from the peanut gallery over here. Mostly, it's just lack of motivation...for writing, thinking (yes, thinking of interesting things), and uploading pics. My apologies.  Here's a some fun stuff heard around this week...

(Sidenote: Donka is the nickname given to my booty, as in ba-donka-donk)

friend: So he's a freak in the bed, awesome
me: When did I say he was a freak in bed?
friend: Oh, I guessed, because you said he met Donka ..and Donka happens to turn nice men into freaks

"Kiss his ass enough and it's bound to get chapped."
~ my favorite coworker

(Sidenote: I heard about this new energy drink on a friend's Facebook page)
me: Would you like a case of Pussy?
C: Does it have any cat in it?
me: No,...why would u think of cats when I say that? Your mind is too clean.
C: Well I knew you weren't offerring me a case of vagina. Is it free?
me: No
C: Then no. I don't like to pay for Pussy.

"Pussy is spontaneous, entertaining, optimistic and fun. It’s a starting point. A moment when something happens and when things begin – Pussy starts conversations. It believes in having a good time as often as possible."

TGIF!!!
hope you all have an awesome weekend!
