So I Went to San Diego...

(This post was originally written in November 2013... I'm trying to clear out drafts and I have no idea why this one was never posted but here we are. So Throwback Thursday?!)

And aside from the semi-boring work conference lecture part, it was awesome! This was also my first work conference and I was a little anxious going in, but it was actually fine and I learned some things and upped my skills a bit.

Sunday: Arrive. Check In. Drinks!

Monday: SAN DIEGO ZOO ERMMEGERD! Sorry for the pic overload, but I couldn't help myself- loved allllllll the animals! (Edit: Not posting "all" the pics, we know what lions and tigers and bears look like.)

No automatic alt text available.

Tuesday: Lectures. Then The Food and Wine Festival Taco and Beer Tasting! This was the first time I'd ever had a fish taco, and I ave no idea what took me so long- they're delicious!

Wednesday: Lectures, followed by a group dinner in Old Town! I actually got to pick the restaurant. I asked my friend who had lived there for a bunch of years, and she recommended Old Town Mexican Cafe. Seriously the best meal and margaritas I had the entire time I was in San Diego! Also, the drunkest I have ever seen my coworkers... pretty hilarious!

Thursday: End of conference woot woot! After the closing luncheon, a group of us went out to the island of Coronado. We went on the beach and I finally touched the Pacific Ocean! And then we had four too many drinks in the Hotel del Coronado. They actually had my absolute favorite drink ever, which was incredible since the first time I had it was in Puerto Rico 8 years ago, and I've spent the last 8 years looking for it! It was a Rose Martini. Yumm.mmm.mmmm.

Friday: All but one of my coworkers had left, so we shared a room (and saved some dollas), and spent the day exploring and shopping in Old Town since all the shops were closed when we went there with the group.

Saturday: At this point, we were tired, but we wanted to see the beaches. So we went on a Trolley hop on/hop off Beach Tour... except we got on the wrong trolley and wound up seeing the same stuff we had been seeing (Coronado, Old Town, Balboa Park, etc). So we asked if we could switch to the one we actually wanted once we got to Old Town, and they agreed. Two tours for the price of one what what! Half the day was over though, so we only got off at one beach- La Jolla (pronounced: La Hoya) aka the Jewel of San Diego. It was beautiful, and we even saw some seals!!

Sunday: Homeward bound. To 32 degree weather. WOMP.

Have you ever been to San Diego? What did I miss?
(Edit: I went back earlier this month- recap coming next week!)

Spring Goals So Far

Albums (101 goal)- I have photo albums, and I have photos. I need to put them together lol.

Blogger date in NYC!- Yes! We had a lovely brunch at 10th and X followed by seeing Avenue Q on Broadway! I had been wanting to see it, and it was hysterical! It wasn't too pricey either since we had a Groupon. Then we found a nearby street fair and strolled for a bit before the rain drove us away. But it was great catching up with these lovely ladies!

Craft beer festivals! - Yes!  I went to the Jersey City Craft Beer Festival and had a blast!

Dentist appointment*

Eyebrows- clean up, reshape and learn how to fill them in.

Fix wireless printer*

Gallery wall- I have frames, I just need to fix the damn printer so I can print some recent photos!

High Line- this has been on my Spring bucket list for at least 2 years. I really want to get there!

Iphone 8- Purchased and loving it. I forgot what it was like to not have to be plugged in to a power source at all times and actually have space on my phone!

Jigsaw puzzle (101 goal)- Blue and I started doing one 2 years ago (ha!), but she got tired of doing it and would get aggravated. I still have it though and would like to complete and frame it.

Keebler's Birthday!- I got him a KitNipBox and he loved it! We've been rationing out the treats with his regular ones and he already broke one of his toys, but it did last a few months weeks, so I'm calling it a win!

Live music - P!nk, Brandi Carlile, and Bon Jovi! And we're going to see Gin Blossoms with Vertical Horizon and Tonic in early June!

Movies with MoviePass- A Wrinkle in Time,  Ready Player One, Blockers, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity Wars, and next weekend is Solo: A Star Wars Movie and maybe Deadpool 2 since it's a long weekend! I'd say I'm definitely getting my money's worth!

New driver's license- checking this off because I MUST go this weekend as it expires on 5/31.

Obtain a new scale* (101 goal)

Pedicure

Quality time with mom for Mother's Day- Yup! We went to my grandmother's grave on Mother's Day before my mom was pulled in to work, but last weekend we made it up by going to the "David Bowie Is" exhibit at The Brooklyn Museum. Unfortunately I couldn't take any pics inside, but it was really cool (and big!). They gave me a tape player and headset and as you moved from each piece or room, the headset played music, excerpts from Bowie's interviews, or conversations about him from friends/collaborators in that time period automatically. It was awesome! I just wish there was a little more about his personal life.

Redecorate my living room with a new couch and rug* (101 goal)- Yes! I found and purchased an awesome sectional from FB Marketplace, and the person who sold it to me was moving and had a perfect little rug that they threw in as well! I've really wanted both for a long time, but I'd never found one I was in love with, or the deals fell through, so this is a big win. WOOT!

Set up my Echo Dot and Alexa-fy my apartment*

Take a class (101 goal)- Some ideas include a wine pairing, cocktail mixology, cooking, chocolate making, or woodworking (if I can find one locally).

Update my resume fo reals (101 goal)- in progress.

Visit Citi Field for a Phillies/Mets game... it's tradition!- This will not be happening. We missed the series in April (and 2 got postponed), and the next one isn't until July.

Work conference/vacation!- Yup! Spent roughly 18 hours in Los Angeles, and then 3 days in San Diego over Cinco de Mayo and had a blast! Full recap coming soon!

eXamine Spring wardrobe; pull out and purge as necessary

Yelp reviews- I'm going to set this one low at 15 or 5/month, for starters.

Zoo!- Yes! We went to the San Diego Zoo while on vacation. I've been before but it was cool to show Blue because it's sooooo big!

11/26- not too shabby!

How are you doing with your goals or bucket list items for Spring?
