Wednesday Wickedness!

From the site:
Hi and welcome to our brand new Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!

Today we picked Simon Cowell. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. “If your lifeguard duties were as good as your singing, a lot of people would be drowning.” How well do you swim?
I sing better than I swim. I'm not a big "water" person.

2. “I think he knows how to articulate something that people are entertained by and still be true to the message he's trying to send, ... very aware of himself.” How self aware do you think you are?
Still learning. A few days ago I was told that I come off "a bit as a smart ass." It was completely unintentional. And sometimes I say things without thinking first. Oops.

3. “If you've got a big mouth and you're controversial, you're going to get attention.” Who has a big mouth that you like?
Kim Kardashian and Snookie. They both come off as pretty dumb and bratty, but funny!

4. “I think you have to judge everything based on your personal taste. And if that means being critical, so be it. I hate political correctness. I absolutely loathe it.” Do you believe in political correctness?
I believe that if you're in the public eye, you should be politically correct becuase you never know who's in your audience and what you're saying/doing could be offensive to someone. Personally however, I don't care.

5. “I find Paula patronizing. It's as simple as that. Paula is more damaging than I am to these contestants because a lot of people just shouldn't be singing for a living.” Do you ever patronize people?
Where I work, there are a lot of people who don't speak English very well. I sometimes fear I am patronizing them with my tone when answering a question they have. And I'm pretty sure I was patronizing my mom when she was first learning how to use a computer because I was pretty good at it and a brat- that was about 10 years ago though. I try not to be patronizing.

6. “Not everybody is perfect, and I don't think we should be looking for perfect people.” Do you or someone you know strive constantly to be perfect?
I don't strive to be perfect, and I can't think of anyone I associate with who does either.

7. “I never want to hear that song again. I cannot stand it. I'm allergic to it.” What song are you totally sick of and why?
"Fireflies" by Owl City.

8. “I like the fact that they're cocky now from the age of four.” How old were you when you got cocky? What changed to make you so?
I don't think I am cocky.

9. “And there's more open hostility among them because the competition is so intense.” When you compete with someone, have you ever gotten hostile?
It depends what the competition is for. I haven't been hostile while competing for a job or when applying for college, but definitely when it came to sports.

10. “Why are you having a normal conversation with him? This is a dairy farmer dressed as a woman.” Do you talk differently to someone because of the way that they are dressed?
I would love to say no, but I probably do. Not consciously though.

Monday Minute!

Time for another Monday Minute with Ian! Make suer to check him out here!

1 - Do you *snort*?
Nope. I laugh harder when I hear other people snort though.

2 - Our friend has a nickname and it's Daffy. What's your nickname?
Lil Desiqua. Coconut. Cocobutt. Booty Buddy. Shorty.

3 - Do you know sign language?
No.
I did hear a really cute sign laguage story though. This girl came home from school and told her mom she wanted to learn sign language. The mom, confused, asked why. She said that there was a new kid at school that she wanted to be friends with who was deaf. This year, I watched as the girl signed at their wedding.

4 - What's a sample convo from your hood?
I would love to tell you, but in my complex it's usually in Hindi, or very broken English.

5 - Do you sleep with electronic devices - i.e. laptop, Blackberry, iPhone, etc?
Not anymore. I used to when me and C didn't live together, because I would wake up to his "good morning" texts every morning. I would sleep with my phone under my pillow otherwise I wouldn't hear it go off. Now my phone just charges on an ottoman next to the bed.

Getting to Know You!

Here's another installment of Getting to Know You! Make sure to go here to link up!
The questions..

1. Do you have a fetish?
Hmm not so much a fetish, but I like guys with hairy chests. Actually that's not completely true- I like my man's hairy chest! Weird and slightly gross I know. I also appreciate his very small amount of back hair. That's right, I said it.

2. Do you sing in the shower?
Not anymore. I used to, when I was little, and when I lived by myself. Mostly pop hits.

3. Who was your first crush?
Kindergarten- Ricky Ricardelli. That was short lived though-- then there was Tommy DeFranscici who I had a crush on for about 4 years. I like the I-talians.

4. What do you think is the best manly trait a guy could have?
Being good with kids/being a good father. Makes me melt every time.
...And opening jars when I can't.

5. Do you sleep naked?
I never used to when I was single, but yes, now I do.

6. What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?
Pick wedgies, bite my lip or nails...

7. What's the first thing you do when you go online?
At work, check email. At home, check Facebook.

8. Summer is.....?
WONDERFUL. My favorite season. Though I liked it much better when I was in college because I had a car, some (though not a lot) of money, and all summer OFF!

Random Thoughts

So that song that was stuck in my head yesterday? It never left. And that one line has kept repeating...over...and over..

"I can do it naturally...whoa whoa whooo-aaaaa"

I tried to Google that one line, to no avail.

And then somehow I started to remember some of the other lyrics. Whoooo!

I find songs getting stuck in my head a lot lately. I think it's because during my 3 hr commute to/from work, I've been playing Solitaire on my phone and/or iPod while listening to my iPod. So I'm only half listening...and a part of the song sticks in my brain. And I can't get it out until I hear it again. Which is what I'm doing right now....

"...It's all in meeeeeeee..."

Speaking of Solitaire, it's become quite the obsession. Not sure why either. But now I just start playing, and I don't notice too much around me. It's great. Especially when I'm watching TV with C and he wants to watch hours of UFC...I just turn on Solitaire, and it's all good.

Definitely saved us from a few spats and general disgruntlement (is that even a word?).

:)

Today we picked Aretha Franklin. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "Trying to grow up is hurting, you know. You make mistakes. You try to learn from them, and when you don't, it hurts even more.” Do you think you always learn from your mistakes?
Nope. Well maybe, but not initially. I need a reminder of certain mistakes I've made, so I remember how bad it was the first time? Kinda like coconuts- I don't like coconuts. But every few years I have to try it again to make sure I really don't like it.

2. “I might be just twenty-six, but I'm an old woman in disguise... twenty-six goin'on sixty-five.” Have you ever felt that you were either older or younger, for your age at that time?
I always feel younger than my age- probably because I look a lot younger than I actually am. Every once in a while I think about it- like damn!- I'm 26! When the hell did that happen?! Guess I gotta get my $h!t together already!

3. “I think the hardest thing is losing weight. That's the hardest thing more than anything else.” Have you had trouble losing weight?
No. I've always had trouble putting on weight. Meh.

4. "Being a singer is a natural gift." Do you have any natural gifts?
Yes, I'm a natural at procrastinating. Really, some people try really hard, and can't do it- to me, it just comes naturally. Shoot, now I got that damn song stuck in my head "You can do it naturally...whoa, whoa, whoaaa"

5. "I always felt rock and roll was very, very wholesome music." What the most "wholesome" rock artist that you like?
Nelly Furtado.

6. "I sing to the realists; people who accept it like it is." Are you a realist?
Goodness no. I'm much more of an idealist/optimist. That's why it's really great to have a realist partner- keeps things in perspective.

7. "No one loves a party more than I. I am a people person." Do you like to party or are you more of a homebody?
Partyer, all the way. Love good people, good music, good food/drinks. I rarely miss a party, though now my "parties" have been centered more around weddings, showers, and babies. OMG THE BABIES! I had 2 baby birthdays one weekend last month, and another one coming  up this month. Kinda changes your whole view of parties. But it's a chance to see people you may not have seen in months, so getting togetehr is always a good time. Though once in a while staying home is great- relaxing. Especially with a good cuddle buddy ;)

8. "I'm gonna make a gospel record and tell Jesus I cannot bear these burdens alone." Do you feel the need to share your burdens?
Yes. To a fault. I don't know why, but sharing- at least with one good friend- always makes me feel better.

9. "I'm the lady next door when I'm not on stage." Do you know the lady next door? (yes, you can pick either side.)
Not well. I know that there's an Indian family with a rambuctious little boy to one side, and a woman/couple? across the hall who like to play reggae (particularly Bob Marley) on Sunday mornings.

10. "I never felt inferior or less than. I was blessed to grow up in a environment where self-worth was underscored." Do you ever feel inferior?
Sure have. I can't name a particular time/instance, but it has definitely happened, and more than once.

Monday/Monkey Minute!

Photobucket

Time for another Monday/ Monkey Minute! Wanna know more? Wanna play? Check it out here!

Have you ever peed in the shower/bath/pool?
Umm bath is seriously gross dude- but have in the shower and pool. Sorry!

What is your biggest pet peeve?
I have lots. Most recently- people who don't flush the toilet after use. Especially when it's #2 - EW!

What's the story behind your blog title?
No story. Just song lyrics from my favorite singer that I really liked.

What is your definition of success?
Reaching your goals, whether it's big or small.

If you were famous, what would you want to be famous for?
Best Procrastinator. Hands down.

Getting to Know You Sunday!

We had a lil change over here for today's Getting to Know you...the bf joined in! Here are both of our answers....

*So y'all know the drill..copy the questions..answer them..then come back here and link up!*

The questions..

1. The most expensive thing hanging in my closet is.....
C: probably my suit
me: one of my dressy dresses

2. Have you ever played a team sport?
C: soccer
me: yes- soccer, softball, basketball, and though some don't consider it a sport cheerleading

3. If you were a bug, what kind would you be?
C: "you would be a stinkbug" ...thanks love
me: ladybug I suppose

4. Where on your body is the worst place to get sunburned? (thanks Ian)
C: your nipples. uuuggghhh it's so gross, and when you put a shirt it's all hurty- and it gets stuck on all teh crusties....eeew
me: the only place I've burned was my nose *knock on wood*. it wasn't really that terrible.

5. Are you happy?
C: nooooo, I'm bored!
me: yes :)

6. People are always abbreviating..are there any abbreviations that make your skin crawl when people use them?
C: I really hate when celebrities abbreviate- like "Brangelina".
me: lmbo...it's an ass, not a butt. laugh your ass off, you prude!

7. Do you love where you live..or could you live anywhere?
C: I like the town/area, but not exactly where we are (apt complex)
me: meh. I would like to be closer to work, or work closer to me...otherwise, I could pretty much live anywhere.

8. What, if any, extreme measures do you go to to keep yourself from overeating when you're full?
C: keep eating
me: When I'm full, I stop. Unless I'm eating as someone's house- then I make every effort to finish whatever is on my plate because my mom said it was rude to leave food on your plate. Which led me one time to eat an entire box of spaghetti at my friend's house. I didn't realize her mom had put the entire box in my bowl, and not wanting to be rude, I ate it.

Happy Mother's Day

I almost forgot to post today!

OH NO!!!!

Maybe it's because I had an absolutely terrible day.
How bout your mom  bails on you, and you tell me how you feel.

yeah, I had a pretty shitty day. maybe I'll write about it someday, but today is not that day. This made me smile though:

Happy mother's day ya'll.

GTKY Saturday!

To play..copy the questions..post them..then come back here and get your link on y'all!

1. What has been your most memorable Mother's Day? (with your mom, as a mom, or with your wife)
Hmm...the Mother's Day I didn't spend with my mom. I think we got into a fight or something, and even though we had a make-up day, I felt way guilty.

2. Have you ever been pulled over for speeding and were you able to talk your way out of it?
The first time I was pulled over was just a few months after I got my license, and I had I think 2 other friends in the car, and we were going out to eat. I started crying...the cop let me go :)

3. What's the oldest thing you have hanging in your closet?
A dress my mom wore in college. I wore it to my Junior Cotillion in high school, and to a wedding just last year. It's gorgeous and still fits!

4. Do you whiten your teeth?
Not at home. I've done it at the dentist though.

5. Underwear or Panties..What do you call your "unmentionables"?
Just underwear. Panties always seemed kind of dirty...not sure why.

6. If you could go on vacation right now..today..where would you go?
If I had the money for it, Australia or Italy. In real life, Puerto Rico to see my grandpa and godson, and hang out on beaches. happy sigh...

7. Do you get offended when people cuss on their blogs?
No. I cuss on my blog! It's your space to write whatever you want (that whole "freedom of speech" thing), and you have a choice to read it or not.

8. If you had to give up one luxury item, it would be....?
My cell phone. It's annoying and I'm almost never on it. I can't use it during the work day, or during my commute (commuters get very "put off" about cellphone talkers on the train/bus, just fyi), and when I'm home it's usually in whatever room I'm not in!

Friday, May 7, 2010

Wednesday Wickedness

From the site:
Hi and welcome to our brand new Wednesday Wickedness. We are like other memes in that we will ask you ten questions each and every Wednesday. But our little "twist" is that each week we will pick a famous person and pick ten of their quotes. Each of our questions will be based on the quotes. Got it? Great! Let's begin this week's meme!
Today we picked Taylor Swift. Here's Wednesday Wickedness!

1. "I never want to change so much that people can't recognize me." Do you believe people can truly change?
Yes, definitely. Not always for the better. But if we didn't change, we wouldn't be growing. I think life experiences- what we see, hear, learn, believe- and different people- who we are friends, enemies, family- all help us grow and change.

2. "People haven't always been there for me but music always has." Do you have people in your life you could always count on?
I like to believe that a certain times in my life there were different people who I could count on. But people come and go- there's a reason people from your past didn't make it to your present. One reason could be they already served their purpose in your life, just by being there.

3. "I’m intimidated by the fear of being average." Do you think there is anything wrong with being average?
No. I think most people are average, myself included. But to one person, you may be above-average.

4. "Never believe anyone who says you don't deserve what you want." Do you believe you deserve everything you want?
Hmm I want a lot. Not so sure about this one...

5. "I have to believe in fairy tales and I have to believe in love." Do you believe in fairy tale love?
No. I believe in fairy tales and their effect on a child, and I believe in love. But fairy tales are not real, therefore I cannot say I believe in "fairy tale love."

6. "I wouldn't want to date a pushover who would let me make all the plans and have all the control." Do you believe in sharing the control in your relationships?
Yes, completely. I did date a pushover...several actually. It got so boring so fast. I don't want to be dominated or pushed over myself, but I definitely believe in shared control.

7. "Sometimes [finding new friends] is the best thing about dating. I've met so many friends through guys that I've dated. And now, the guys are gone but the girls are still around." Did you ever make a close friend from someone that you've dated?
No. In fact, wuite the opposite- I've lost some friends from guys I've dated.

8. "But there are a lot of rumors out there that you just have to ignore." Has anyone ever spread something malicious about you?
Of course- females always talk sh*t about each other. If you don't agree, none of it ever got back to you- good job.

9. "I set goals that are just a little bit out of reach, but not totally out of reach." How do you go about setting your goals?
Short term goals I tend to think I will reach faster than I actually do. Long term goals...I usually just put off longer. Depends what the goal is really. And how feasible it is to reach.

10. " I remember seeing girls crying in the bathroom every Monday about what they did at a party that weekend. I never wanted to be that girl." Have you ever done something at a party that you've ever regretted?
Of course I have- it keeps life interesting! I mean, we all make mistakes, we're only human. And I see it more as a lesson learned...and at times, relearned.

Random Sleepy Thoughts

This was actually a friend's status message that made me laugh:
lesbians who look like Justin Bieber = "Biebians".

This makes me a little sad:
(pic via PostSecret)

Why would anyone put so much energy and hope and...their "philosophy on life"? ...based on a TV show? Seriously? These characters are fake, the script is written by several people...it doesn't even bear (bare?) a resemblance to real life!

Speaking of Lost...I have no idea what's going on. I think the episodes are confusing me more instead of giving me any sort of clarity. BUT...a couple friends of mine are planning an amazing Lost Finale Party. Can't wait!

Ok...time for sleep. Apparently working out yesterday is still catching up to me, and kicking my butt!

Monday Minute!

Monday Minute

1 - How much would you have to be paid to eat a human cadaver's finger?
I really don't think I would do it for any amount. Even if I agreed, I'd probably throw it up.

2 - Describe the worst physical fight you've ever been in.
With mom, dorm room in college, 2002. It involved wrestling, and I think she was trying to unplug my computer, don't remember why though. But by that time I outweighed her, so I won.

3 - Name one song that if you never heard it ever again, you'd be thrilled.
Basically anything by Nicki Minaj.

4 - Describe the "drunkest" situation you've ever been.
After work on a Thursday, 2008?, NYC, went out for sushi and sake bombs with some friends.

Thought I was ok, stood up, and almost fell over. But I had to make it home (at the time, West New York, NJ).

First, I crossed the street, tripped over the sidewalk, and fell, getting a bloody knee.

Somehow found my way to 42nd Street. Got in one of the dollar/gypsy vans, fall asleep.

Wake up back in NYC (yes, the driver apparently didn't check the van- I was asleep in the back and had gone all the way to NJ and back). It's completely dark, and the van had been abandoned. I have to pee. I start sobbing. Realizing that really no one is around, and that I can't make it out of the van without peeing, I pop a squat on the seat. The I try to open the sliding door to get out, but it won't budge. So (naturally) I karate kick the plexiglass, and hop out.

Walk about half a block....and realize I left my purse in the van. Walk back, jump in through the kicked out window, find purse, and calmly open the driver's side  door, which was left unlocked the whole time.

Somehow find my way back to 42nd St. Get in another dollar/gypsy van. Sit down, realize I have no money but think that hopefully they won't notice, and fall asleep.

Get woken up by driver, who asks for my money.

Not having any, I get out, and start begging in the nearby Burger King. It is approximately 2:30AM. Seeing my bloodied, mascara-smeared face, someone gave me a dollar.

I get back in the van, and (of course), fall asleep.

I wake up at the last stop on the van...a 30-40 minute walk back to my apartment. The bus driver won't drive me back- he says he's parking the van for the night. It is snowing. I call my now ex-boyfriend, freezing, crying, and in pain, to stay on teh phone with me while I walked. I got in around 3:30AM. Needless to say, I didn't make it to work the next day.

5 - What's your biggest regret?
Not going to grad school right after college. And listening to my mom when she told me that getting lots of credit cards when I was 18 was a good idea.

Sunday Stealing

Head on over to Sunday Stealing to play! The Questions...

01) Are you currently in a serious relationship?
Yup!

02) What was your dream growing up?
First it was to be an architect. Then I realized how much math was involved (I really don't like math). So it became wanting to be a child psychologist...and live in a mansion, with a chef and maid, have a *hot* and  caring husband, and travel the world. When I was younger I didn't want to have kids either.

03) What talent do you wish you had?
Singing and cooking.

04) If I bought you a drink what would it be?
I hope it would be a rose martini! But since those are apparently nearly impossible to find, I'd take a Jack n Coke or Corona.

05) Favorite vegetable?
Potato. I love potato salad, potato chips, French fries, baked potatoes...yummm!

06) What was the last book you read?
"Hoe the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents" by Julia Alvarez. I don't recommend it.

07) What zodiac sign are you?
Sagittarius

08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where.
No tats- too chicken. I have ears, belly button, and nose pierced.

09) Worst Habit?
Biting my nails, cutting people off when talking/impatience, and smoking.

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?
Well being that I don't have a car, no! If I did, then it would depend on the situation. If it's really cold, you are holding lots of bags/packages, or on a long lonely road, and you look safe, then most likely yes.

11) What is your favorite sport?
To play- soccer. To watch (live)- baseball. To watch at home- football (I don't like being cold).

12) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude?
I would say mostly optimistic, though a lil bit more jaded and pessimistic lately.

13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?
Try to get out? Nothing personal, I just wouldn't want to be stuck in an elevator regardless of who I was with....unless it's a really hot guy, and I was single, and he had a condom...haha jk!

14) Worst thing to ever happen to you?
Hmm...I'm in a pretty good mood right now, so I'm not sure. Ask again on a bad day.

15) Tell me one weird fact about you.
I hate marchmallows, but I loooove s'mores.

16) Do you have any pets?
Not currently. Had a dog once, when I was younger. He lived to be 15! He was a good dog.

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?
If I'm home, I would open the door?

18) What was your first impression of me?
I don't know you, but your questions are interesting enough.

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?
Scary. Ever since I saw Steven King's "It."

20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?
I wish I was a little bit taller,...but I would probably pick boobs if it didn't involve surgery. Oh, and my terrible eye sight, but I plan on getting Lasik eventually.

21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?
Most likely crime partner, depending on the crime.

22) What color eyes do you have?
Brown.

23) Ever been arrested?
No, thank goodness. *knock on wood*

24) Bottle or can soda?
I like the glass bottles, otherwise can.

25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?
Pay off debts. And probably buy myself an outfit.

26) What's your favorite place to hang out at?
Home when I'm tired or had a bad day. But really just about anywhere with friends.

27) Do you believe in ghosts?
Yes.

28) Favorite thing to do in your spare time?
What is spare time??! I like going to events...sporting, concerts, etc. Read books/mags, cuddle, watch TV/movies, scrapbook, and shop.

29) Do you swear a lot?
Like a sailor, but I'm trying to cut the fuck back...oops...

30) Biggest pet peeve?
Slow walkers, slow drivers, slow talkers, people who repeat themselves or are just generally dumb...those are just a few...

31) In one word, how would you describe yourself?
Quirky.

32) Do you believe/appreciate romance?
I believe in it and greatly appreciate it.

33) Favorite and least favorite food?
Fave- chicken parmesan. Least fave- umm...anything involving pickles or olives.

34) Do you believe in God?
Yes.

35) Will you join us this week for Wednesday Wickedness? (Bud has on a mission to make this Wednesday's most popular meme. Please play this week so I can stop promoting it.)
Sure, if I remember!

GTKY Sunday!

Make sure to head over to Mannland5 to play!
The Questions...

1. Are you superstitious?
Yes. I am extra cautious on any Friday the 13th, I won't pick up a penny tail's up on the street (only head's up), never open an umbrella indoors, etc. Enough bad things happen without me testing the "powers that be".

2. If you were an animal..what kind would you be?
A monkey- they're so smart, they have fun (and are funny and cute), and they get to hang out in treetops!

3. You would never catch me wearing.........?
A moo-moo. Uggs. Crocs. A "romper". Tight sweatpants. There are probably more, but those are the first that come to mind.

4. If someone posts a VLOG..do you watch it?
No, usually because when I'm looking at blogs I'm at work.

5. Have you ever waxed your girlie/manly parts..or any other part of your body?
No, but I've definitely thought about it! I just hate pain! And I think I would be a little bit embarrassed. It's on my "Bucket List" though.

6. Are you a spender or a saver?
I really like to spend, but I'm working on saving more. Argh.

7. If you were starring in a movie..who would you want to play your leading man/woman?
Mmmmm...Jay Hernandez. Though I wouldn't mind Clive Owen, Juanes (not sure if he can act, but he's hot), or George Clooney.

8. Smoker..never smoked..social smoker..or smoked back in the day?
Social I s'pose. I mean, there are usually people around...oops.

May NaBloPoMo

I haven't actually participated in NaBloPoMo yet as my button may suggest.
