This weekend I'm heading to North Fork, Long Island with a bunch of friends I haven't seen in awhile the day before our other friend's wedding. I'm super excited! The last time we went we had a blast, and this is the first time going with C.

Then on Monday, we have our friend's wedding. (Um P.S. who gets married on a Monday? Let alone Monday of Memorial Day Weekend?! Still not over that...) Should be a fun time though.

Who would you invite??

1. What's on the top of your holiday wish list and why?!
A NookColor e-reader. And I'm getting it! It's a double birthday/Christmas gift. I want one because I commute a lot and it's way lighter and less cumbersome than carrying books around. Plus, it has WiFi, which means I can read all your lovely blogs on the go!

2. What is your favorite Christmas gift from the past?
That is a VERY hard question. I got a car once, when I was 17. That was pretty amazing. I got a digicam 2 years ago, my first ever. Last year I got an iPod, which, like the e-reader, is awesome because it's pretty boring commuting with no music. I also love the time I got a "Little Blue Box." And my first pair of diamond earrings. Oooh, and this year I also am getting a gorgeous diamond bracelet!

3. If you had life to do over, what would you be when you grow up?
I still have time! Unfortunately, I have no idea what I want to be anymore. I like working in higher education, so maybe a Multicultural Recruiter/Admissions person. Or guidance counselor in a high school.

4. When do you put up your tree?
Today. But a little late for that! Hopefully sometime this week or next Saturday.

5. What is your favorite Holiday?
Christmas and 4th of July. Christmas for giving/getting presents, the 4th for food, great company, and warm weather. Oooh I love New Years too, because it's a time of new beginnings.

Tonight: I went to check out a couple of spots for my birthday dinner. Now I'm home watching Sex and the City with a cold one, and eating dinner soon.

Tomorrow: I plan on getting my birthday dress altered, getting my new beautiful diamond birthday present bracelet altered (it's too big), going to Children's Place to get some cute clothes for my godson for Christmas, and going to the State Theater in New Brunswick to see some of C's students perform at Slam: Falling Sideways. I have absolutely no idea what this performance is...is it dance? hip hop? poetry? acrobatics? gymnastics? a play? a musical? I have no clue. The little promo card we got from his students is not helpful at all.

Sunday: Going to Hoboken to a friend's house for our annual Girls Football Day for our girls football league. A day of eating, drinking, and watching football...a true Sunday Funday!

I'm a Maxx-inista!

Sorry for the grumpiness yesterday. I just don't understand why some people do what they do. Anyway, last night definitely got rid of any and all grumpiness-- my momma took me out shopping for my birthday! (Which isn't until next month, but I don't mind one bit!) Actually, she started working part time at the brand-spankin-new TJ Maxx at Columbus Circle in NYC, and she had discounts because it was the opening day of the store, and she said I could get whatever I want!

WHAAAT! Ummm suuuuure, thanks!

If there's one thing I don't mind doing with momma, it's shopping. Though she doesn't seem to understand my style at all anymore. She kept picking up these slutty less conservative pieces for me, like midriff baring shirts?? I guess I used to dress more...provocative...back in the day, but now I'm a working woman (wait....that sounds like the opposite of what I was trying to say...oh, whatever) with a long-term, steady boyfriend! Plus, I've simmered down a bit...ya know, living out in the sticks and all, and there's nowhere to where such nake-y pieces to anymore, and somewhere along the way I lost the interest to do so.

All in all, I only spent about $120. Not too shabby for about 5 sweaters and a pair of gor-ge-ous Guess heels that go absolutely perfectly with the little black dress I raved about on Wednesday! I've decided I'm going to wear that to my birthday dinner...which reminds me, I have to purchase it stat before they're out of my size!

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?

Hmmm... I've actually been very lucky *knock on wood*. I guess the worst was before I started taking BC. I would have to take off from work because I was doubled over in pain due to cramps, and sometimes even getting physically ill. Monthly.

2. How much sleep do you get at night?
about 7 hours, give or take about a half hour

3. How long did you believe in Santa Claus? How did you find out that he does not exist?
Wait...what?? He's not REAL?!? Ugh this is THE WORST way to find out!

4. What was the last movie you saw in a theater?
It may have been Eat Pray Love. I think. It's been awhile.

5. What do you wear to bed?
Nothin. *wink* But I lounge in sweats or yoga pants and a tee when I get home from work.

I was planning on either staying in tonight or going to the movies with C (not that I even know what's out, but it sounded like a good idea), but then my good friend A invited us and another couple out for dinner- specifically Trenton Tomato Pie. I looooove tomato pie- it was actually one of me and C's first dates. If you've never heard of such a thing, which wouldn't be so odd because I'd never heard of it and I'm from New Jersey, it is:

Tomorrow C has to teach Saturday school half day, and then we need to run some errands, and do some of the basic straightening up/clean up, because on Sunday we have his cousin's kid's 4th (?) birthday party.

1. If you could have any talent and turn it into an occupation, what would it be?

I think fashion designing or wedding planning would be fun. Though today I saw someone listed as a "Flirtation Coach" ...what? I'd be down for that!

2. Would you rather have a house at the beach or a cabin in the woods?
Neither, I like living in a suburb and going to the city. But if I had to choose...beach house.

3. Is there any meaning or reasoning for the names you chose for your child/children?
No children, sorry!

4. What is your guilty pleasure? (I know we've done this one before, but I'm guessing people's "guilty pleasures" change frequently. At least, mine do!)
It was Jersey Shore, but it's over. :( I hate Sister Wives, but I can't stop watching...like a train wreck! And blog- hopping...C hates when he's around and I'm not paying attention to him because I'm reading blogs!

5. Do you live in a house that is deep cleaned or straightened?
Who has time for "deep cleaning" anymore? Sorry, I work full time...we're lucky if we keep it straightened up. That's a weekend chore.

Tonight: Carl's bday drinks at Dublin Square! Can't wait to see some friends we haven't seen in awhile.

Tomorrow: Wine and Cheese party at my friends, The Rays. Should be interesting- I've never seen their place. I've never been to one of their parties (unless you count a brunch a few months ago, which I don't), and I don't even remember the last wine and cheese party I went to. But it includes 2 of my favorite things, so it is sure to be awesome!

Sunday: Either Carl's cousin's daughter's birthday party, or going to see Grandma. We aren't sure if the birthday party is this Sunday or next.

1. If you could be a fly on any wall, which would you choose?
I really don't know. I'm not sure I need to know everything about any one person. TMI.

2. Do you budget your Christmas shopping or just get it done without budgeting?
Usually I don't budget, but this year I'm trying to very hard! Orrr...to at least get my Christmas shopping done before Christmas Eve...baby steps...

3. What is the craziest fad diet you have ever done?
I can honestly say I've never been on any kind of diet.

4. Is there a TV show that you have seen every episode/season of?
Definitely "Lost." I'm pretty sure "Gilmore Girls" and "Law & Order SVU" as well.\

5. What one song always pulls at your heart?

Sunday, I plan on watching scary movies and handing out candies to tricker treaters.

This week seemed sooo long. Sheesh. I'm so happy it's almost over. And today is my coworker's bday, so we're having a mini-break at 3 for some delic strawberry shortcake! Yummm!!

1. Who is the better cook, you or your spouse?
C, the boyf. We would starve to death (or eat out a whoooole lot) if it were up to me. One of the things I need to work on.

2. How often do you talk to your mom?
About once a week. And believe me, that is more than enough.

3. Are you adventurous in the kitchen or stick to the recipe?
It is an adventure if I step into my kitchen. And I don't cook. Sooo I suppose sticking to the recipe?

4. Is your second toe longer than your big toe?
Yes it is. There is an old wives' tale I heard once that says if the woman's second two is longer than the big toe, she will "wear the pants" in a romantic relationship. So far, it's been true :P

5. Do you dress up for Halloween? (Bonus question: What will you be this year?)
Usually yes, if there's a reason to, like a Halloween party or something. Last year I did not because we had nowhere to go :( This year I was going to be Snooki, but it was for an office party (so inappropo!), and I feel like everyone will be dressing up as a Jersey Shore character, so I changed my mind. Now it is between two costume ideas:
a cherry pie costume I bought two years ago when I was a "Dirty Martini". I bought this outfit because I found the "Dirty Martini" in a size up form mine, and in case it was too big (and the store didn't take returns), I found this one in my size. I got the "Dirty Martini" to fit though, so this one has been on reserves packed away:

I don't have the big jugs this model has, but it still works :)

Option 2 is Arlene from "True Blood." I think wearing a big red wig would be super fun, and it's still easy and comfortable.

This weekend:

-Today, I plan on going home and doing nothing but cuddle on the couch. Yay.

-Tomorrow I have to make some returns at the mall, and at night C and I are going to see Cirque Du Soleil's Dralion for our 2 year anniversary (on Monday). So super excited! I LOVE these Cirque shows!

-Sunday I was hoping to go pumpkin picking...as I have been trying to do for the past three weeks now. But now I'm not so sure I want to spend the money on pumpkins that 1) will probably get smashed (last year neighborhood kids stole our pumpkins from right in front of our door and smashed thee. I was sad.) and 2) will only be "in season" for another week. But we shall see. Also, C's big toe is all messed up- he thinks he has gout- but either way it is all swollen and bruised looking and hurty, so walking around searching for pumpkins may not be a great idea for nursing him back to normal. Whether or not we get pumpkins, I plan on making pumpkin pie.

That's right.

I, Miss Un-Domestic- one time made myself sick just trying to make some scrambled eggs- should definitely not be anywhere near the kitchen, am going to attempt to bake a pumpkin pie. I am going to search the Internets for a recipe, go to the store, and bake. This attempt is because next Friday my office is having a "Dessert-Fest", and I would like to make pumpkin pie because it is one of my favorite foods in the whole wide world, and I need to do a trial before the real thing. If it doesn't work out (which is a great possibility), then I'll just buy it. But I *must* at least attempt.

Haha! For anyone in the tri-state (Northeast- NY, NJ, PA) area, that is what John Bell says on Z100's (100.3FM) Z Morning Zoo radio show.

UPDATE: I was looking for a sound clip of John Bell's saying, and just found out that he was FIRED from z100 earlier this year (like, before summer....oops). UGH! He was awesome! This is such sad news. And they added Carolina Bermudez...she SUCKS! She thinks she's soo funny, yet she sounds like some idiot from the ghetto. Here's an interview with John Bell that was done as a response on a different radio show.

Anyway, on to 5 on Fridays!

1. What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Crunch bars. Followed closely by the mini Snickers and Reese's. Which is odd because I don't like the full size version of either one of those!

2. Do you fold your socks?
Fold? No. I put them together and fold the top of one over the top of the other one so they stay together. I don't engulf one in the other- that would just be a sock ball...which is weird in my opinion.

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?
I can't really say "wish" I had been warned because I was warned, but definitely going straight to grad school. That would have been much smarter. It really is so much harder once you go into the workforce to go back to school- not impossible, but harder. Plus, much harder to get financial aid and get back into that mindset!

4. What is the most significant difference between you and your significant other?
He is laid back, grounded, realistic, and more of a homebody- not that he doesn't like to go out, but he has no problem staying in more than going out. He is also a planner.

I am spontaneous, idealistic/romantic, a little crazy, and would usually prefer to be out and about, doing just about anything. I feel like I'm missing out on stuff/life if I stay home too much.
I get him out more, he keeps me grounded. Works out pretty well!

5. What are three words you would use to describe yourself? (And, just for fun...if your significant other is around, ask him/her what 3 words they would use to describe you!!)
My answers:
Outgoing/social, Resourceful, Spontaneous (at least I used to be...it's harder to be spontaneous when you liveout in the sticks and you ahve to worry about public transportation to get home!)...hmm Cheerful.

Weekend Plans!

 

This weekend will probably be pretty chill, as C is sick.

 

Tonight we were supposed to go to our friend's birthday party in South Jersey, but we're not. Probably will have a quiet night at home. Hopefully we will get to the grocery store, because our refrigerator and cupboards are bare! Last night C had cereal and cinnamon buns for dinner....no good. I didn't even eat dinner because I fell asleep at 8. *le sigh*

 

Tomorrow C is supposed to work half-day. I don't think he's going. I have to clean and do some errands. Then in the evening we are going to the Philly Union soccer game! Whooo! I haven't been to a soccer game since about freshman year in college. I'm excited.

 

Sunday if C is feeling ok I think we are going punkin picking!

 

Last week I went with Momma to go punkin picking up in Queens, NY. But once we got there we realized that you couldn't pick the pumpkins off the vines...they were all pre-picked and put in a field. Lame. We did go through a corn maze though. That was fun, as it was my mom's first time! You go through without a map, and pick up pieces to  put the map together as you go- very fun! Then we were going to buy pumpkin pie, but they were sold out :( So hopefully I'll get some this week.

I *love* pumpkin pie!!

It's Friday!

1. What do you listen to while driving?
I don't drive, I commute on train. I listen to either my "Mornings" playlist or radio (either Z100 or 98.3...though sometimes Nick Cannon's morning show is annoying, they play more music) on my iPod.


2. What is your least favorite thing about Fall?
It's closer to winter. And it's colder...I don't like being cold.


3. What does your dream house look like, inside and out?
Daydream at work?! Well I never!!

Ha, just kiddin'. Let's see...at least 2 floors. I've only lived in ranch style houses and I always wanted stairs! At least 2 1/2 bathrooms, one in the master suite with a hot tub, shower stall with either numerous jets or one of those big cool rain-like showerheads, double sinks, and heated floors. I would LOVE heated floors! The master bedroom also must have at least one, but possibly 2 walk in closets...this is because right now we have a walk-in, and C's crap clothes take up literally one whole side and half of my side! Also, a larger bed. I feel like California king may be too big, so maybe just king.

I don't have kids (yet), so right now I'll dream small(er) and say 2 bedrooms and a den/office (aka "man cave") for C. Bigger kitchen than what we have (we're in a small 2 bedroom apartment). I don't cook, like at all, but maybe I would be up for the challenge if the challenge didn't include fitting 2 people in the same kitchen. Dark wood cabinets, walk in pantry, island in the middle, and a big double door stainless steel fridge...with an ice maker and a snack shelf.

Medium size dining and living room. I actually love the furniture we have now so no changes to that. New dark wood dining room table and chairs though. Maybe one that's expandable.

The biggest inclusion in my dream home would be a pool. a decent size (not too big), in-ground pool,...and maybe a jacuzzi. Not completely necessary but...hey, it's my dream home!

Outside I would like white (ish) with blue shutters. And little lights on the walkway to the door. And a large backyard...big enough to put in play stuffs for the possible kiddies. And the pool. With room for the dog (that I will obviously have) to run around. And lots of windows. I love natural light.

I think that about sums it up! I haven't decided on location yet. I would like it to be warmer, but not sure I'm ready to leave the Northeast!

4. Would you ever own a minivan?
If I had kids, yes. I wouldn't mind being a typical soccer momma!


5. Do you wash new clothes before wearing them?
Bathing suits and underwear, definitely. Sometimes I wash the other stuff. But sometimes I don't because I feel like it loses it's "newness."

For Fun Fridays, I’m going to share our weekend plans!

Tonight, I am going out with my girlfriend for happy hour in Hoboken. We're going to have a few drinks and catch up! I'm excited because I haven't seen her since I think late August! We're going to this new place called the Wicked Wolf- love the name! And supposedly they have good food too! C is going to the Phillies game with his friend- they don't have tickets, but if all else fails they'll tailgate and then head to a bar.

Tomorrow, I think we are going to go pumpkin picking with my momma. If not, then I might just head to NYC to visit and go to a street fair or something. I'm still discussing with C.

On Sunday, I think we're going (out?) to dinner with C's family for his momma's birthday, which was yesterday. I just remembered that I forgot to call-- oops! Again, not set in stone. Not sure if we're going out with his family on Saturday or Sunday. Once that's decided it'll be easier to plan the rest.
